Oil Painting – “Dancer at Rest”

The only self-portrait paintings I have done have been casual studies.  The first, I  completed as an extension of a homework assignment in a life drawing class.  I call it “Dancer at Rest.”  I first made a drawing by looking at myself in a mirror, but didn’t worry much about getting a good likeness, because my homework assignment had to do with drawing a hand and arm.  I liked how the drawing turned out enough to make a painting from it, but again wasn’t concerned with making it look like me.
